The 12th Annual National Prep School Invitational, featuring 20 of the top prep schools in the country, was held Thursday through Sunday, February 4, 5, 6 and 7, 2010, at Keaney Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI.
This year's event included St. Andrews, Notre Dame Prep, Maine Central Academy, Bridgton Academy, St. Thomas More, Worcester Academy and the Winchendon School. The NPSI thanks the players and their teams, their coaches and refs; the fans, many who come year after year, for their enthusiasm; and its sponsors and supporters. It would not be the NPSI without Dave Maron. Dave Maron, whose name is synonymous with basketball knowledge and excellence, is the heart and soul of NPSI. Special thanks to George, Erin, Mike Cap, Pat, Jerry, Laurie, Ian, Carl, Sean, Shane, David and Kayleigh from Greenhillgraphics.com, and Mark Baer, who God only knows where he is from. Their dedication, seemingly endless hours of work and courteousness made the 12th Annual NPSI one of the best to date. NPSI also acknowledges and thanks the various coaches, assistant coaches and others from schools around the country for their presence once again.
Since its inception, the NPSI has had over 600 future Division I college players showcasing their talents, with over 20 going on to play in the NBA, including Caron Butler, Rashad McCants, Dorell Wright, Andray Blatche, Brandon Rush and Michael Beasley. Past NBA drafts featured former NPSI standouts Jarret Jack and Ryan Gomes.
The NPSI is the longest running event of its kind in the country. The fact that it is held in February ensures that the teams are playing at their highest level. The NPSI is a not-for-profit event. Free admission to attendees under the age of 18-years-old.
